Introduction to Butterfly Pinning Workshop

In this introductory insect pinning class students will learn about lepidopterans and how they are preserved for collections. Students will be provided all the supplies needed to pin their own butterfly specimen. By the end of the class students will have learned how to pin lepidopteran species and have their own work to take home.

• This workshop is open to all — adults and children 10+ are welcome! (Please note: this workshop requires patience and the ability to carefully handle sharp pins.)
• Each participant must have their own ticket, as one set of supplies will be provided per ticket holder.
• Children 10 and under must be accompanied by a chaperone. As chaperones are not workshop participants, they do NOT need to register for the workshop; however, regular Museum admission is required for these guests.
